Research

The Africa Institute of Mental and Brain Health (AFRIMEB) is dedicated to advancing knowledge and shaping policy through high-quality, evidence-based research. AFRIMEB conducts pioneering research in a wide range of critical areas that include adolescent and child mental health, intimate partner violence, bullying and peer aggression, climate change and its impact on mental well-being, neurodevelopmental and neurological disorders, and child protection and care systems.

By working closely with communities, academic institutions, and policymakers, AFRIMEB ensures that its research is not only scientifically rigorous but also contextually relevant and socially responsive. The institution is particularly invested in generating data that informs culturally appropriate interventions, supports prevention efforts, and enhances mental health services for vulnerable populations, especially children and youth
