What is mental wellbeing
Mental Health is defined as a state of wellbeing in which an individual realizes his or her own potential/abilities, and can cope with everyday stresses. (WHO)
What is mental illness
A mental illness is a condition that affects a person’s thinking, feeling, behavior or mood. These conditions deeply impact day-to-day living and may also affect the ability to relate to others.
Mental health conditions are common affecting one in four people at some point in their lives. In other words, every family is likely to be affected.
Examples of psychiatric illnesses
1.Schizophrenia, Major depressive disorder, Anxiety disorders, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Dissociative disorders, feeding and eating disorders, alcohol use disorder, delirium, alzheimer’s disease among others.
